Berlin 1906: The chocolate – dynasty and family business Gravenhorst have a reputation for excellence. The family of five and their servants live together in the noble neighborhood "Unter den Linden". However, an invisible boundary is drawn between basement, the servants quarters and main work place and first floor, where the family resides.
The series presents the fascinating story of two young, headstrong women Friederike Gravenhorst (Nina Bott), and Anna Merthin (Annekathrin Bach), who grew up in completely different worlds with a completely different background, but who learn from each other and become friends, despite the major obstacle: class. It is a story about forbidden love, overwhelming emotions and real friendship, class distinction, professional pride and the straight jacket of social convention.
