PHOENIX FILM was founded in 1979 by Karlheinz Brunnemann and has since developed into one of Germany’s most important, efficient and successful TV production companies for serial entertainment and development which reaches large audiences with dramatic, emotionally-charged, exciting, popular and award winning TV programs. Markus Brunnemann is the managing director of PHOENIX FILM. The UFA-group which has owned shares of PHOENIX FILM since 2002 is represented by Wolf Bauer.
The creative and highly committed PHOENIX team has turned this traditional production company into a modern service oriented entity: They closely analyze the needs of their clients, primarily the public and private networks, and come up with custom-made, to the point solutions. The teams’ approach is based on in depth knowledge of fictional production, dynamic and cost efficient, merging the traditional with the innovative, the classical with the unexpected, the familiar with the extraordinary.
PHOENIX FILM has produced unforgettable prime time classics like „Ein Heim für Tiere”, „Rivalen der Rennbahn“, „Jacob und Adele” (ZDF), „Dr. Stefan Frank” (RTL) or „OP ruft Dr. Bruckner” (RTL).
It has created brand programming with long-lasting serial family-shows like „Unser Charly” and „Hallo Robbie!” (both ZDF) and highly successful and award-winning serial formats like the SAT.1 shows „Edel & Starck” and „Danni Lowinski”, PHOENIX FILM’s latest top serial.
Among other serial highlights are „Zwei Herzen und zwölf Pfoten“ (ZDF), the historical serial „Unter den Linden“ and „Allein unter Bauern“ (SAT.1) as well as „Doktor Martin“. PHOENIX FILM’s current unconventional crime show „Flemming“ (ZDF) with Samuel Finzi and Claudia Michelsen has moved critics as well as a large audience.
TV movies like „Du bist nicht allein - Die Roy-Black-Story” (RTL) with Christoph Waltz, „Adrenalin” (RTL) with Til Schweiger and TV-Highlights like „Am Kap der Liebe” (ARD) or „Das Papst Attentat“ (RTL) have left their indelible marks.
The first TV-movie biopic about one of Germany’s greatest actresses „Romy“ (ARD) played by Jessica Schwarz has charmed the nation.
PHOENIX FILM and Grundy UFA produced more than 600 episodes of Europe’s most successful telenovela „Verliebt in Berlin“(SAT.1). Another well received program of the two companies’ collaboration was the Daily Soap „Eine wie keine“ (SAT.1).
Markus Brunnemann is one of few German producers who have tackled MobileTV production. The innovative multimedia mystery-Thriller „Kill Your Darling“ (PRO7) is one of the results of moving into new areas of production. In 2009 PHOENIX expanded into yet another new field: the family oriented feature film franchise with the soccer-buddy feature „Teufelskicker“.
While PHOENIX FILM is always exploring new areas of fictional and serial production, including web 2.0., scripted reality and alternative ways of story-telling, production and financing, the bottom-line and center of all ambition and striving toward the next successful new program was, is and always will be:
THE ART OF CAPTIVATING FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT!
